SACHEM receives awards for excellence in pretreatment compliance by the City of Austin- Water Utility Division.

(Austin, TX) – July 23, 2008 –  SACHEM’s Woodward R&D Plant and Monterrey Oaks Research Lab have been honored for their Excellence in Pretreatment Compliance by the City of Austin- Water Utility Division. The City of Austin – Water Utility Division has presented its Awards for Excellence in Pretreatment Compliance on July 22, 2008 to both of SACHEM’s facilities for perfect adherence to stringent water treatment.  SACHEM’s Woodward R&D plant was awarded for six consecutive years and SACHEM’s Monterrey Oaks Research Lab was awarded for two consecutive years.

The Excellence in Pretreatment Award is awarded to Significant Industrial Users (SIUs) connected to the City’s sanitary sewer system that have distinguished themselves for consistently meeting all applicable local, state and federal pretreatment standards and requirements. In order to meet all effluent quality standards typically requires a properly designed, operated and maintained pretreatment system along with a carefully designed and executed slug control plan and pollution prevention strategy. SACHEM has devoted significant training time and organizational attention to address self-monitoring and reporting requirements required by the city.

The City of Austin – Water Utility division determines pretreatment compliance through unannounced sampling and inspections by city’s staff. The City of Austin – Water Utility Division requirements are known to exceed all state and federal regulations.
