SACHEM Raises Prices for its Cationization Agents: REAGENS-S-CFZ and GMAC

Zaltbommel, NL – April 1, 2010 — SACHEM announced today that it will raise the prices for its range of cationization agents REAGENS-S-CFZ and GMAC. The prices will be raised with 0.15 or 0.2 $/kg, effective April 1st, 2010 or as current contracts allow.

“Rapidly increasing prices for key raw materials and increasing transport and shipping costs have significantly impacted our production cost over the last months,” says Martin Schipper, SACHEM´s Global Business Director Carbohydrates Chemicals. “While we take our responsibilities to customers very seriously, this price increase is necessary to continue our level of quality, support and service.”

REAGENS-S-CFZ (3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride, CAS# 3327-22-8) and GMAC (2,3-epoxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride, CAS# 3033-77-0) are effective monomers for the cationization of natural polymers (like starch and cellulose) with applications in the paper and cosmetics industry. SACHEM is a leader in the production and sales of REAGENS-S-CFZ and GMAC with production and manufacturing facilities in the Netherlands and in China.
