| SACHEM, Inc. announces TMAH capacity expansion |

Austin, TX - April 22, 2004 - SACHEM, Inc., the world's largest producer of Tetramethylammonium Hydroxide (TMAH) announced today an additional expansion of its Cleburne, TX facility. Due to increasing demand for TMAH, used as a developer in the photolithography process for semiconductor and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) manufacturing, SACHEM will further expand production capacity by 60%. This expansion, combined with on-going process improvement efforts, will effectively double the capacity of the Texas site from the previous year. The new capacity is expected to be fully on line by July 1, 2004. John Mooney, President of SACHEM, Inc., said, "This expansion is a reflection of our continuing commitment to the rapidly growing Liquid Crystal Display and Semiconductor industries. Our low-cost process is readily expandable and will enable us to maintain this leadership position through the foreseeable future." Mooney also noted that "the rapid increase in demand has tightened the TMAH market considerably which should halt the significant decline of TMAH prices experienced over the past several years". Jerry Windisch, Vice President of Marketing adds "Due to the prolonged electronic industry slump and the decline in market prices for electronic chemicals, new capacity investment for TMAH has been limited and in fact several producers have shut down their facilities. With the recent increase in demand, particularly in the LCD market, SACHEM has escalated its expansion plans to keep pace with industry growth". SACHEM, Inc., a closely held corporation, does not disclose actual investment value or production capacity. However, it is believed that the Cleburne, TX facility was the world's largest high purity TMAH production facility prior to the announced expansion.
