Austin, TX - February 1, 2003 - SACHEM, Inc announced today the introduction of new ionic liquids. SACHEM now offers three different classes of compounds in this area. SACHEM's Terrasail™, Marisail™ and Catasail™ lines of ionic liquids offer new solutions to the industry. Ionic liquids are salts that are liquid at room temperature. Unlike traditional solvents that can be described as molecular liquids, ionic liquids are composed of ions. This creates the potential to behave quite differently from conventional solvents. SACHEM has the unique capability to produce three classes of compounds and is dedicated to making ionic liquids systems available to the industry in bulk quantity. SACHEM's Terrasail™ line includes hydrophobic ionic liquids that provide similar capability of currently available ionic liquids, but with the added benefits of low toxicity, increased stability and no HF generation. The Marisail™ line includes water miscible ionic liquids that offer new separations options for hydrophobic products. Finally, the Catasail™ product line includes the first low molecular weight catalytic ionic liquid on the market. Catasail™ offers decreased corrosion issues and improved volumetric throughput. Overall, the development of these three classes of compounds reinforces the strong momentum in new technology improvements for green chemistry.
