
| SACHEM Inc hires Dr. Barry Haymore to lead displacement chromatography technology development |

Austin, TX - July 1, 2005 - SACHEM announced today the appointment of, Dr. Barry L. Haymore as Director of Technology Development. As Director, Dr. Haymore’s primary responsibility is developing SACHEM's line of biotechnology products called SACHEM Biotechnology Solutions (SBS)™, which includes a line of displacer products for use in displacement chromatography. High priority will be to make SACHEM’s line of displacers accessible to the market. The portfolio of Expell™, Isolis™, and Propell™ displacers are used for protein, peptide and oligonucleotide purification using displacement mode chromatography. “This step represents our continued commitment to bring displacement chromatography to the marketplace. We believe this is a powerful technology and can have a dramatic impact on improving capacity, yields and purities in protein and oligonucleotide purification”, comments Rosemary Hoffman, Biotechnology Market Manager at SACHEM. Dr. Haymore has over 30 years experience in bioprocessing, especially chromatography purification of biological molecules and chiral drugs. He is particularly well recognized for his pioneering work in immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC) and other forms of affinity separations. He is the author or co-author of over 100 publications and patents. Dr. Haymore has a B.S. from the University of Arizona, a M.S. from Brigham Young University and received his PhD in organometallic chemistry and biochemistry from Northwestern. He spent five years as an Assistant Professor at the Indiana University. He then joined Monsanto Company where he spent 15 years in the Corporate Research Department. Prior to joining SACHEM, he was co-owner of a microbiological testing company called Microbe InnoTech and the managing Director of ChemLink International, providing technical consulting in the chemical and biotechnology areas.
