Ultracapacitors, also known as double layer capacitors, possess unique properties of high energy storage density and cyclability combined with energy discharge rates that batteries cannot achieve. These feature them attractive in a variety of energy applications including wind and solar and energy storage.    

Similar to MLCC's, double layer capacitors require high purity chemistry in order to achieve the highest working voltages and long life. Quaternary ammonium salts, a SACHEM specialty for over 50 years, form the backbone of these electrolytes systems.
