METAL ACETYLACETONATES AS ORGANOTIN REPLACEMENT

Recently, Organotin compounds have come under increased scrutiny with regulatory agencies worldwide. Dibutyltin dilaurate and dibutyltin oxide are already classified as CMR-2 compounds in Europe. Tributyltin compounds are on a concept list for priority substances in surface water which affects the emission allowance level for these substances.
Tributyltin(oxide), in particular, is considered a VHC, based on the finding that its decomposition product in water (tributyltin, TBT) is ranked as a supposed endocrine disrupter.

As TBTs can be classified PBT(persistence/bioaccumulation/toxicity) or vPvB (very persistence, very bio accumulative), a large number of TBT-containing compounds will be banned in the future.

SACHEM's Metal Acetylacetonates offer a solid alternative to these organotin compounds and have several significant advantages in addition to eliminating HSE issues that organotins create.

SACHEM's Metal Acetylacetonates offer the following advantages:
  • Very effective Organotin catalyst alternative
  • Reduced HSE issues
  • No induction time
  • Higher through-put in existing reactor systems
  • Acetylacetonates are solids but can be supplied as solutions

Which SACHEM Metal Acetylacetonates are the best candidates?

  • Zirconium (iv) Acetylacetonate
  • Zinc (ii) Acetylacetonate
  • Iron (iii) Acetylacetonate

Standard packaging is in 25 kg fiber drums.
